How to Make Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients:

* 1 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling

* 1/2 teaspoon salt

* 2 1/4 teaspoons plus 1 teaspoon active dry yeast

* 1 cup warm milk (115 to 120 degrees F)

* 1/4 cup canned pumpkin puree

* 3 tablespoons granulated sugar

* 3 tablespoons packed light brown sugar

* 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

* 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, softened

* 1 large egg

* 1 cup cream cheese, softened

* 1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar

* 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. To Make Dough

In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook, stir together the flour, salt, and yeast.

In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the milk until warm to the touch (115 to 120 degrees F). Add the milk, pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice to the flour mixture.

Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes, or until the dough comes together and forms a ball.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

2. To Make Cinnamon Filling

In a medium bowl, stir together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

3. To Assemble Rolls

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Punch down the dough and divide it in half. Roll out each half into a 12x8 inch rectangle.

Spread 1/2 of the softened butter onto each rectangle of dough, leaving a 1-inch border.

Sprinkle 1/2 of the cinnamon filling over each rectangle of dough.

Remove the rolls from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Spread the cream cheese frosting over the rolls. Serve warm or at room temperature.
