How to Harvest and Freeze Okra for Frying

How to Harvest Okra

1. Choose okra pods that are about 3-4 inches long.

2. Cut the pods off the plant with a sharp knife. Avoid pulling the pods, as this can damage the plant.

3. Place the okra in a colander and rinse it under cool running water.

How to Freeze Okra for Frying

1. Blanch the okra. To do this, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the okra and cook it for 1-2 minutes.

2. Drain the okra and immediately transfer it to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.

3. Drain the okra again and pat it dry with paper towels.

4. Cut the okra into slices.

5. Spread the okra slices on a baking sheet and freeze them for 1 hour.

6. Transfer the frozen okra slices to a freezer bag and store them for up to 6 months.

Tips for Frying Frozen Okra

1. When you are ready to fry the okra, preheat some oil in a frying pan.

2. Add the frozen okra slices to the pan and fry them until they are heated through and browned.

3. Serve the fried okra immediately.

Enjoy!
