## How to Make Chalkboard Cookies

Ingredients:

* 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

* 3/4 cup granulated sugar

* 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar

* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

* 2 large eggs

* 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

* 1 teaspoon baking soda

* 1 teaspoon salt

* 1 cup powdered sugar

* 2-3 tablespoons milk

* Black food coloring

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla and eggs one at a time, then stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt.

3. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each ball with a fork to create a crisscross pattern.

4. Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown around the edges but still soft in the center. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

5. To make the chalkboard frosting, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and black food coloring until smooth and the desired consistency is reached.

6. Once the cookies have cooled completely, use a spoon or piping bag to spread the frosting over the cookies, leaving a small border around the edges. Let the frosting set for a few minutes before serving.

Tips:

* To make the cookies even more chalkboard-like, you can add a little bit of black cocoa powder to the dough.

* You can also use any color of food coloring you like to make the frosting.

* If you don't have a piping bag, you can use a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off.

* These cookies are best served the same day they are made.
