Ingredients:
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons instant dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 3/4 cups warm water (105-115 degrees F)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley, chives, and basil)
Instructions:
1. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
2. Add the warm water and olive oil to the bowl, and mix on low speed until the ingredients are combined.
3. Increase the speed to medium, and mix for 5-7 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
5. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
6. Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
7. Punch down the dough, and divide it in half.
8. Roll out each half of the dough into a 12x8 inch rectangle.
9. Sprinkle one half of the dough with the shredded cheese and chopped herbs.
10. Roll up the dough, starting from the long side, and pinch the edges to seal.
11. Place the rolled-up dough in the prepared loaf pan.
12. Repeat steps 8-11 with the remaining dough.
13. Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
14. Let the bread cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
15. Serve the Cheesy Herb Swirl Bread warm or at room temperature.
Enjoy!
