Gather as many different corn seeds as possible--genetic diversity within a variety is important.
Select the healthiest and best developed corn cobs while on the stalks. Cover each of them with a tied off paper bag (not plastic).
Remove corn ears from the stalks in late fall just before the first frost. Pull off the husks so that the seed can dry out better.
Hang the ears in an area that is warm and dry for two to three months.
Remove the kernels (seeds) from the husk and place them in sealed glass jar. Select kernels that are very wrinkled, and throw out any smooth or off-color kernels. Your corn seed should be good for up to two years this way.
