How to Remove Skin From Pears

There are 3 easy ways to remove the skin from pears:

1. Blanching

1. Bring a pot of water to a boil.

2. Score an "x" at the bottom of each pear.

3. Drop pears into boiling water and blanch for 10-20 seconds, depending on the size and ripeness.

4. Remove from water and transfer pears into an ice bath.

5. Once cool, gently remove the skin from pears.

2. Peeling

1. Wash and dry the pear.

2. Use a vegetable peeler or paring knife and start from the stem end.

3. Peel the skin in long strips, working downward toward the bottom.

3. Microwaving

1. Wash the pears.

2. Prick the pears all over with a fork to prevent from exploding.

3. Place the pears on a microwave-safe plate and heat for 20 seconds.

4. Once cool enough to handle, remove the skin.
