How to Grow Hawthorn Cuttings

Step 1: Prepare the cuttings.

- Take 4- to 6-inch long cuttings from new growth in late spring or early summer.

- Remove the bottom leaves from the cuttings, leaving about 2 inches of bare stem.

- Dip the cut ends of the cuttings in rooting hormone.

Step 2: Plant the cuttings.

- Fill a pot or container with well-draining potting mix.

- Plant the cuttings in the potting mix, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

- Water the cuttings well.

Step 3: Care for the cuttings.

- Place the pot or container in a warm, sunny location.

- Keep the potting mix moist, but not soggy.

- The cuttings will take root in about 4-6 weeks.

Step 4: Transplant the cuttings.

- Once the cuttings have rooted, you can transplant them into individual pots or into the ground.

- Space the plants about 3 feet apart.

Step 5: Water and fertilize the plants.

- Water the plants regularly, especially during dry spells.

- Fertilize the plants in the spring with a balanced fertilizer.

With proper care, your hawthorn cuttings will grow into healthy plants.
