What Kind of Flower Is a Superbell?

Superbell (Calibrachoa superbell) is a hybrid plant developed in nurseries from wild plants that were first discovered in 1989. The first superbell varieties were released in 1992. The plant is a favorite food source for hummingbirds and they will stop by for a drink of nectar.
  1. Features

    • The plants look like a small version of petunias that grow like a vine and reach 18 to 24 inches tall. Superbell varieties come in shades of pink, peach, purple, white or plum.

    Environment

    • Superbells like full sun or partial shade and well-drained to dry soil. They will bloom from spring right through the fall. The plant is winter hardy in USDA zones 9 to 11 only.

    Uses

    • The plants are recommended for use in containers and hanging baskets where they can be brought in for the winter. Superbells are also used as a border plant it its hardiness zones.
