Materials Needed:
- Fresh flower
- Resin (such as epoxy resin)
- Hardener
- Mixing container
- Stirring stick
- Disposable gloves
- Safety glasses
- Mold or container for the flower
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Flower:
- Choose a fresh flower with petals that are in good condition.
- Remove any leaves or thorns that might be on the flower.
- Lay the flower flat on a paper towel to absorb any excess moisture.
Step 2: Mix the Resin:
- Put on your disposable gloves and safety glasses to protect yourself.
- In a mixing container, combine the resin and hardener according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Stir the mixture thoroughly until it is well combined and there are no streaks or lumps.
Step 3: Add the Flower to the Mold:
- Place the mold or container you chose on a flat and level surface.
- Carefully arrange the flower in the center of the mold.
- Make sure the petals are spread out and not overlapping too much.
Step 4: Pour the Resin:
- Slowly pour the mixed resin over the flower.
- Be careful not to pour directly onto the flower, as this can cause air bubbles.
- Continue pouring until the flower is completely covered in resin.
Step 5: Remove Air Bubbles:
- Use a toothpick or bubble remover to carefully remove any air bubbles that might have formed on the surface of the resin.
Step 6: Let the Resin Cure:
- Allow the resin to cure completely according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Curing time can vary from a few hours to a few days.
Step 7: Remove the Finished Piece:
- Once the resin has fully cured, gently remove the finished piece from the mold.
- If any excess resin has hardened on the surface, use a sharp blade or sandpaper to carefully trim it off.
Step 8: Display or Gift Your Artwork:
- Your beautiful preserved flower in resin is now ready to be displayed or gifted!
Tips:
- To create a more interesting effect, you can add other elements such as glitter, color pigments, or small decorative items to the resin before pouring it over the flower.
- If you möchten to preserve multiple flowers, you can arrange them in a pleasing composition within the mold before adding the resin.
- Experiment with different flower varieties and colors to create unique and stunning resin artworks.
