Ensure that the subfloor is level and in good condition. If necessary, level the subfloor using self-leveling compound or shims.
- Frame a shower pan curb using 2x4 lumber. The curb should be at least 1 1/2 inches tall and extend at least 2 inches beyond the shower pan flange.
- Secure the curb to the subfloor using drywall screws.
- Center the shower pan drain in the shower pan curb.
- Connect the shower pan drain to the P-trap.
- Carefully place the shower pan into the shower pan curb.
- Make sure that the shower pan is level and that the drain is properly aligned.
- Apply a bead of caulk around the base of the shower pan curb and the flange of the shower pan.
- Secure the shower pan to the subfloor using drywall screws through the flange of the shower pan.
- Apply spray foam insulation around the perimeter of the shower pan between the curb and the shower pan flange to prevent water from seeping behind the shower pan.
- Trim any excess spray foam with a utility knife.
- Turn on the water and allow the shower to run for a few minutes to check for any leaks. If you find any leaks, tighten the screws around the shower pan drain.
