Draw out the desired shape and size of the pool with paper and a pencil. Use graph paper to properly draw the pool to scale.
Spray paint the soil to mark the desired outline of the pool. Hammer stakes into the ground to frame the outline. Tie a string around each of the stakes.
Excavate the area within the stakes with a backhoe excavator. Check the bottom layer of soil with a laser level to ensure the depth is even. Move the backhoe to the area of the pool intended for the deep end.
Dig down to a depth of between 8 to 9 feet lower than the other section of pool for the deep end. Add an additional 3 feet to this depth for the flooring and foundation. Check the bottom area with a laser level to ensure it is even.
Use a shovel to even out the sides and bottom of your pool. Check for a consistent transition from the walls of your pool to the bottom with a curved plywood form.
