Choose a spot on the hill that is flat, clear of debris, and at least 15 feet away from any overhanging branches or structures.
Step-2 Dig the fire pit
Dig a hole in the ground that is 12-18 inches deep and 24-36 inches wide. The shape of the hole can be circular or rectangular, depending on your preference.
Step-3 Build the fire ring
Line the bottom of the hole with a layer of large stones or bricks. These stones will help to hold the heat of the fire and protect the ground from damage.
Step-4 Add the fuel
Build a fire in the center of the fire ring using small pieces of wood, kindling, and larger logs.
Step-5 Light the fire
Use a match or lighter to light the fire. Be careful not to burn yourself.
Step-6 Maintain the fire
Keep the fire going by adding more fuel as needed. Be sure to keep the fire under control and do not let it spread.
Step-7 Enjoy the fire
Sit back and enjoy the fire! Be sure to put the fire out completely before leaving it unattended.
