* A 4-point chisel
* A ball peen hammer
* Safety goggles
* Gloves
Instructions:
1. Set up your granite. Place the granite on a stable, flat surface. If the granite is thin, you may want to place it on a piece of plywood or other thick material to support it.
2. Put on your safety goggles and gloves. Chipping granite can create small pieces of sharp stone that can fly off in all directions, so it's important to protect your eyes and hands.
3. Position the chisel. Hold the chisel in one hand, with the blade perpendicular to the surface of the granite. The pointed end of the chisel should be facing away from you.
4. Strike the chisel with the hammer. Use the ball peen hammer to strike the chisel near the blade. The force of the blow should be enough to break off a small piece of granite.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you've created the desired shape.
Tips:
* Use a light touch when striking the chisel. Too much force can cause the chisel to break or the granite to crack.
* If the chisel starts to get stuck, rotate it slightly and strike it again.
* It may take some time and practice to get good at chiseling granite. Don't get discouraged if your first few attempts don't turn out perfect.
