How to Get Steak Sauce Out of a Chair

Try to get steak sauce out of an upholstered chair by cleaning the stain as soon as you notice the spill. Promptly cleaning the stain increases your chances of removing it without any remaining residue. Steak sauce is a dark substance that might include oil that sets into the fabric quickly. A solution that includes liquid dish soap helps cut through the grease to remove the stain and keep the chair looking nice.

Instructions

    • 1

Blot the stain with an absorbent towel or paper towel using a lifting motion, instead of rubbing the sauce into the chair. Start blotting at the outside of the stain and work inward to prevent spreading the stain.

    • 2

Mix 1 tablespoon of a grease-cutting liquid dish detergent with 2 cups cool water. Dip a clean towel or sponge into the solution. Wring out the towel or sponge so it is not dripping. Blot at the stain from the outside edge and work inward.

    • 3

Rinse the rag with cool water, and continue to blot at the stain with a clean towel and the cleaning solution until the stain disappears.

    • 4

Inspect the stain after the upholstery dries to verify it is gone. Repeat the blotting process with the dish detergent solution until the stain is no longer visible on dry upholstery.

    • 5

Clean the upholstery with a chemical upholstery cleanser if the stain is set in from rubbing or was not cleaned promptly after the stain appeared. Purchase a chemical cleanser at household supply stores that sell cleaning products.
