- Set your iron to the hottest setting that is safe for the fabric.
- Place a barrier such as a thin towel or press cloth between the iron and the cross-stitch fabric.
- Gently press the iron over the fabric, moving it in the direction of the grain.
- Lift the iron and place it back down in a different spot to avoid flattening the stitches.
- Continue ironing until the fabric is smooth.
2. Using moisture and weight:
- Place the cross-stitch fabric on a flat surface, such as an ironing board.
- Spray the fabric lightly with water until it is evenly damp.
- Cover the fabric with a clean, dry cloth or paper towels.
- Place heavy books or other objects on top of the fabric to apply even pressure.
- Leave the fabric to sit for several hours or overnight.
- Remove the weights and cloth and let the fabric dry completely before moving it.
3. Hair dryer method:
- Set your hair dryer to the lowest heat setting.
- Hold the hair dryer about 6-8 inches away from the fabric and move it back and forth in a sweeping motion.
- As the fabric warms up, the creases should begin to disappear.
- Continue heating and smoothing until the creases are gone.
4. Rolling method:
- Spread the cross-stitch on a flat surface
- Roll the fabric tightly onto a cardboard tube or rolling pin.
- Secure the rolled fabric with rubber bands.
- Leave the fabric rolled up for several hours or overnight.
- Unroll the fabric and check if the creases are gone.
5. Freezing method:
- Place the cross-stitch in a plastic bag and seal the bag to create an airtight container.
- Place the bag of cross-stitch in the freezer and leave it overnight or for several hours.
- Once frozen, remove the cross-stitch from the freezer and let it thaw while still in the bag.
- Take out the cross-stitch from the bag and smooth it out.
