How Do I Get Light Stains Out of a Peach Colored Dress That Was Washed With the Colored Clothes?

Sometimes dye from fabrics will bleed and stain other pieces of clothing. This often leaves ugly, streaks of dye on your wardrobe, making it unwearable. These dyes are typically not permanent and can be removed -- even from your peach-colored dress. It is important to act immediately when the staining occurs. The longer the offending dye sits on the fabric, the more difficult it will be to remove.

Things You'll Need

  • Rubbing alcohol, white vinegar or pretreatment solution
  • Detergent
  • Color-safe bleach
  • Color stripper

Instructions

    • 1

Pour rubbing alcohol or white vinegar on the dye stains in the peach-colored dress. Instead of rubbing alcohol or vinegar, you can saturate the stain with a laundry pretreatment gel stick or spray. Allow the solution to penetrate the fiber for 15 to 20 minutes.

    • 2

Relaunder the peach dress in the washing machine by itself. Add detergent and color-safe bleach to the wash. Wash dress in warm or hot water, if the label allows. Avoid using water below 60 degrees Fahrenheit; cold water makes detergents ineffective.

Relaunder the affected garment using a color remover or stripper, if the spots still remain. Color removers use sodium hydrosulfite to help get rid of streaks of dye, but will not affect the original color of your garment. These strippers are available at general retail stores.
