How to Get Furniture Dye Out of Walls

If brightly colored upholstery rubs against a wall, it's possible for some of the dye in the fabric to transfer to the wall. You're not stuck with the same room arrangement until you repaint, though; in most cases, the dye can be removed. Concentrate on spot removing the dye gently. Flat paint is a little more difficult to clean than glossy paint, but you'll see results on either type of surface.

Instructions

    • 1

Moisten a melamine dirt eraser sponge. Rub the stained area of the wall to remove the furniture dye. If the stain is minor, this may remove it completely.

    • 2

Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda on a damp sponge. Rub the stain in a circular motion, using the powder's mild abrasion to wear away the stain. Rinse the sponge and wipe away any baking soda residue.

    • 3

Wet a cotton pad with rubbing alcohol. Rub the area to remove any remaining dye stain. Wipe the area with a damp sponge.
