Companies That Make Food Storage Containers

Tupperware is probably the most notorious company that makes food storage containers because of its Tupperware parties that have been going on since 1946. There are, however, other companies that sell reliable food storage containers that you can easily buy off store shelves or online.
  1. Tupperware Brands

    • Tupperware has been a household presence since the mid-1940s, and still employs a direct marketing sales force that sells storage containers via parties and a network friends and acquaintances. Tupperware is also available through its official website. Tupperware Brands sells virtually any food storage container you can think of, from dry storage canisters for flour and sugar to drinking tumblers to cake holders to sets you can cook and store in.

    World Kitchen, LLC

    • World Kitchen, makes Snapware, which are plastic containers with lids that snap down on the sides to prevent the lid from coming off. They also make the Pyrex brand, which provides glass containers with sealing lids and plastic containers sets that have "no-leak" lids. Snapware and Pyrex can be bought through World Kitchen's website, though Amazon's website and at many retailers including Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Costco and the Container Store.

    Rubbermaid

    • The Rubbermaid company started in Ohio in 1920 making balloons. They are one of the best known companies for food storage containers. Rubbermaid makes plastic containers with lids that snap in place. Among many other products, they make specialty storage containers for produce, eggs, bread, cakes and butter.

    Other Companies

    • Many other companies make food storage containers. The Johnson Company makes the Ziploc brand of storage bags and containers and the Glad Products company makes similar products. Both brands can be purchased at grocery stores. More high end storage containers made of glass, bamboo, stainless steel and hard plastic are available at Crate and Barrel stores.
