How to Organize the Basket in Chrome

Chrome baskets are made of wire construction and chrome plating, which make them durable even after repeated exposure to water. Hang chrome baskets in the kitchen for fruit, use them underneath a bathroom cabinet for storing hair accessories or use as a holder for cleaning supplies. Chrome baskets are open on the sides, which means organization is key to keeping the baskets looking good.

Instructions

    • 1

Store a chrome basket in your laundry or mud room. Group the same kinds of rags and washing machine items together, such as stain sticks, dryer fresheners and bleach. Line up flip-flops or stack gloves and hats in a basket. Place baskets in a closed cabinet or line them up neatly on a shelf. Organize keys and cellphones in a small chrome basket by the door.

Place a blow dryer, soaps or washcloths in a chrome basket under the bathroom sink. Keep like items together and give each basket a theme. In a child's bathroom, for example, one basket keeps soft bath toys while the other one features a brush, hairspray, headbands and barrettes. Placing the baskets under the sink keeps them hidden, but organized for everyone's convenience.

Purchase a wire basket with a handle for cleaning supplies. Put glass cleaner, disinfectants and multi-purpose cleaners in a basket. Place supplies, including a scrub brush, sponges, gloves and rags, in another chrome basket and carry both by the handles from room to room.

Fill a chrome basket with outdoor supplies and place it next to the pool or under a covered patio. Insert insect repellent, sunscreen, sunglasses, visors and lip balm, for example, into the basket. Place the smaller items together in a small cup, fold and stack the visors and sit the bottles upright. Tell friends and family members that there are "extras" in the basket in case anyone forgot something.

Assemble a square or rectangular "baby's first week" basket. Stand diapers up on one side and a small packet of wipes next to them. Place diaper-rash ointment, a bulb syringe, baby lotion, a jar of cotton swabs, a pacifier and socks in the basket, and take it with you throughout the house. Having everything at your fingertips, in any room, helps calm both baby and caregiver.

Categorize toys in chrome baskets. For example, group together building bricks and blocks, doll's clothes and shoes, and plastic animals and toy figures. Set the baskets on the floor in a playroom or on a low shelf in a child's bedroom. Keep the baskets in view so children can quickly find what is needed.
