How to Clean Tiffany Style Lamp Shades

A Tiffany-style lamp shade recalls the original art-nouveau lamps created by Louis Comfort Tiffany. These lamps are made with intricate glass designs. Glass types and designs used in the lamp shades vary widely. People who own these lamps may be wary of cleaning them because of the delicate glass patterns. However, once you understand the basics of cleaning Tiffany lamps, it won't be a chore. The most crucial aspect of cleaning is determining the type of glass your lamp is made from.

According to the Tiffany Lamps Dealer website, you can mix 4 cups of warm water with 2 to 4 drops of dish detergent and apply it to a cloth to clean lithophane porcelain lamps. Hold the lamp firmly and apply the mixture gently with a soft cloth. Use scouring powder to clean non-colored portions of the lamp. Wipe the lamp with a dry lint-free cloth to remove water and finish cleaning.
