How to Clean Formica Furniture

Formica furniture, with its smooth, sleek surface, is low maintenance when it comes to minor things such as dust settling. You'll have to step it up a bit if your furniture suffers a spill. Although this type of furniture is known for its durability, you'll never want to use any heavy-duty abrasive cleaners or tools on it, because of the possibility of surface scratches.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold a clean, soft cloth under running water to saturate it. Remove the cloth from the water and squeeze it gently so that it's damp -- not dripping.

    • 2

Wipe the surface of your Formica furniture with the damp cloth once a week to remove dust. Apply a mild soap and water solution if needed. Allow the furniture to air-dry.

    • 3

Sprinkle baking soda on the Formica surface if you have tough stains. Scrub with a damp, nonabrasive sponge to remove the stains. Rinse with water, and wipe dry.
