# How to Clean the Dirty Finish on Wood Furniture
Finished wood furniture requires special care and cleaning to keep it looking its best. Wood finish can enhance or change the appearance of wood furniture, whether it is paint, oil or lacquer. Things You'll Need
- Cloths
- Mild detergent
- Boiled linseed oil
- Gum turpentine
- White vinegar
- Bucket or container
- Rubber gloves
- Spoon
Instructions

Polyurethane, Lacquer or Painted Finish

Dampen a cloth with warm water, and wring it out. Add 2 or 3 drops of mild detergent for a painted finish.

Wipe the wood furniture thoroughly with the cloth to remove dirt or residue. Use small, circular motions.

Rinse the painted wood furniture with a clean, damp cloth.

Dry the wood furniture thoroughly with a cloth.
Oil Finish

Mix 1 pint of boiled linseed oil, 1 pint of gum turpentine, and 6 ounces of white vinegar in a bucket or container. Wear gloves, and use a spoon to mix the cleaning solution.

Dip a cloth into the solution, and wipe the wood furniture with the cloth. Use small, circular motions while cleaning. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes.

Wipe the furniture with a clean cloth to remove any excess residue. Follow the direction of the wood grain.
