How to Get Burnt Stuff Off a Stove

Burnt-on foods are a common problem with stove tops. Once a spill is heated and burnt to the stove, it becomes difficult to remove - a simple wipe won't cut it. The faster you remove the stain, the easier it is to remove, but even the stubbornest of stains can be removed with hard work. The method you use does depend on the type of stove you have, since some devices and chemicals may harm certain stove tops.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour white vinegar over the stain and let it set for at least five minutes. Wipe it away with a clean, soft cloth, and the stain should come away with it. Repeat if necessary.

    • 2

Squirt undiluted liquid dish soap onto the burnt spot and let it set for at least five minutes. Scrub it with a wet scratchless sponge or cloth and rinse the soap away with water.

    • 3

Wet the burnt area and sprinkle area with salt. Let it set for 5 to 10 minutes and scrub it with a damp cloth. This method works well on enamel stove tops but may scratch glass surfaces.

    • 4

Add enough water to baking soda to make a thick paste. Use the paste to scrub the burnt area with a soft sponge or cloth until the burnt spot is removed.

    • 5

Spray a glass-top stove with glass cleaner and let it soak for three to five minutes. Scrub with a paper towel or soft cloth. Repeat until the stain is removed.

    • 6

Scrape the burnt food with an old credit card or plastic gift card.
