Materials Needed:
- Aloe Vera Gel: 2/3 cup (or 154 grams)
- Isopropyl Alcohol (70% concentration): 1/3 cup (or 78 grams)
- Essential Oil (optional for fragrance): 10-15 drops (such as lavender, lemon, or tea tree oil)
- Empty Bottles with Pump Dispensers: 2 (around 4 ounces or 118 milliliters each)
- Funnel (for easy pouring)
- Mixing Spoon
- Measuring Cups
Instructions:
1. Mixing:
- Start by disinfecting your workspace and all equipment to ensure a clean environment.
- Pour the Aloe Vera Gel into a larger bowl.
2. Adding Isopropyl Alcohol:
- Slowly add the Isopropyl Alcohol to the Aloe Vera Gel while mixing continuously with the mixing spoon. This helps the two liquids combine properly.
3. Adding Essential Oil (Optional):
- If you want to add a fragrance, this is the time to do so. Add 10-15 drops of your preferred essential oil and stir thoroughly to blend it evenly.
4. Transferring to Bottles:
- Use the funnel to pour the hand sanitizer mixture into the empty bottles. Be careful not to spill any.
5. Labeling:
- Label the bottles clearly to avoid any confusion. Write "Hand Sanitizer" and your name or initials.
6. Storing and Using:
- Store the hand sanitizer bottles at room temperature.
- To use, apply a small amount of the sanitizer to the palm of your hand and rub thoroughly until it's dry.
Safety Tips:
- Please make sure the Isopropyl Alcohol you use is 70% concentration, as it is the recommended strength for hand sanitizers.
- Wash your hands with soap and water as soon as possible if you've accidentally ingested the hand sanitizer.
- Keep hand sanitizers out of the reach of children and pets.
- Avoid mixing any other ingredients or altering the proportions mentioned in the recipe.
Note:
Remember that homemade hand sanitizers are a temporary measure and should not replace proper handwashing practices. Frequent handwashing with soap and water is still the most effective way to prevent the spread of germs and viruses.
