1. Clean the inside of the freezer thoroughly.
- Remove all of the shelves, drawers, and any other removable parts from the freezer.
- Wash them in hot soapy water and allow them to dry completely.
- Wipe the inside of the freezer down with a solution of baking soda and water. Let this sit for several minutes, then wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
- Rinse the freezer with clean water and dry it thoroughly.
2. Use an odor absorber.
- You can use a commercial odor absorber or make your own by placing a bowl of baking soda or ground coffee in the freezer.
- Leave this in the freezer overnight or for several days.
3. Place vanilla extract inside the freezer.
- Vanilla has a strong natural aroma and can help fight odors.
- Just place a few teaspoons of vanilla extract on a cotton ball and place it in the freezer. Leave for a few days to a week to absorb odors.
4. Clean the gasket.
- The gasket is the seal around the door of the freezer. If the gasket is dirty or cracked, it can allow odors to enter the freezer.
- Clean the gasket with a damp cloth and check to see if it's still in good condition. If the gasket is cracked, you may need to replace it.
5. Leave the door open for several hours.
- This will help the freezer to air out and reduce any remaining smells.
6. Use a freezer odor eliminator.
- There are commercial products available that are specifically designed to eliminate freezer odors.
- Follow the instructions on the product to use it correctly.
Note: If you have a particularly strong odor in your freezer, you may need to repeat some of these steps or try a combination of methods to completely remove the smell.
