How to Measure a Shot of Whiskey

There are a few different ways to measure a shot of whiskey. The most common way is to use a jigger, which is a small glass or metal measuring cup. Jiggers typically come in two sizes: 1 ounce and 1.5 ounces. A single shot of whiskey is typically considered to be 1 ounce, but some bars may use 1.5 ounces.

If you don't have a jigger, you can also use a tablespoon to measure a shot of whiskey. One tablespoon is equal to about 0.5 ounces, so two tablespoons would be equal to 1 ounce.

Another way to measure a shot of whiskey is to use your pinky finger. The width of your pinky finger is roughly equal to 1 ounce, so you can insert your pinky finger into the glass and pour until the whiskey reaches the top of your finger.

Finally, you can also use a credit card to measure a shot of whiskey. The width of a credit card is roughly equal to 1.5 ounces, so you can place the credit card on top of the glass and pour until the whiskey reaches the edge of the card.

Ultimately, the most important thing is to be consistent with your measurements. Whether you use a jigger, a tablespoon, your pinky finger, or a credit card, make sure you use the same method each time so that you can always pour a consistent shot of whiskey.
