Enter the password on the control panel's keypad. Trip the circuit breaker at the fuse box to stop the flow of electricity to the control panel. Open the control panel's cover and loosen the two wire clips at the top of the backup battery. Remove the battery and replace it with a fully charged one that will not cause the alarm to malfunction. Attach the wire clips to the new battery, close the lid and restore power at the fuse box. Enter the password to arm the home alarm.

Enter the password at the wired control panel. Loosen all of the screws on the sensors attached to the windows and doors of the home with a Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Spray the wires wrapped around the screws with electrical cleaning spray. Tighten the screws so that there is now a secure connection between the wiring on the sensors and the control panel. Rearm the system.

Enter the password at the wireless control panel and navigate to the "Syncing" menu -- the actual name will vary, depending on the manufacturer. Replace the batteries in the wireless transmitters connected to sensors protecting the home's windows and doors. Press the "Sync" (or similarly named) button on each transmitter. Navigate back to the main menu at the control panel and enter the password to arm the system.
