Installation of Chubb CCTV

Chubb is a security company located the United Kingdom that provides monitoring and response services via a variety of systems including CCTV. Chubb recommends having an authorized service technician install their systems, and the installation may be free when you sign up for monitoring. However, if you have not subscribed to Chubb's service and are using old CCTV equipment to monitor your property yourself, installation through a third party can be expensive. Fortunately, installing a basic Chubb CCTV system is not exceedingly difficult.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a location for the camera. Near an entrance, such as windows and door or a driveway is ideal. The camera should be impossible for someone standing to reach it, so mount it high.

    • 2

Drill the camera's mount into the wall. The exact type of screws required depends on which model Chubb camera is being used and what the material you are drilling into.

    • 3

Connect a power source. Some cameras are battery powered, others have an external power source, such as an electrical plug.

    • 4

Connect the A/V cable to the camera. This will usually be a coaxial cable. Screw it into the camera's "Signal Out" port.

    • 5

Run this cable into the main monitoring station.

    • 6

Connect the coaxial cable to the input source. This may be a monitor, VCR/recorder or Chubb control module. Either way, connect the coaxial cable to an input port.

    • 7

Plug in the input source and test the system.
