How to Pick a Slaymaker Rustless Lock With No Key

Slaymaker makes a series of rustproof padlocks that consist of a shackle -- the rounded bar that locks your goods in place -- and a locking mechanism. The locking mechanisms in almost all padlocks work in much the same way, and the Slaymaker padlock is no exception. So simple are these mechanisms that they are alarmingly easy to pick. Lock picks (and their accompanying instructions) are freely available on the Internet and also can be fashioned from common household items. Even two paper clips can be modified to act as lock picks in a pinch.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a torque wrench into the widest part of the keyhole of the Slaymaker lock. Turn it in a clockwise direction until it stops and press down on it with your non-dominant hand.

    • 2

Insert the pick tool into the key hole with your dominant hand. Jiggle the pick up and down, keeping it in the keyhole as you do so.

    • 3

Continue to move the pins up inside the locking mechanism as you jiggle the lock pick up and down. You will know when the pins have all been raised, as the shackle will click open.
