How to Release a Mitre Saw Arm

Releasing a mitre saw arm is not difficult, but mitre saws have a few safeguards in place to prevent them from moving and causing injury. The mitre saw arm includes a safety release pin as well as a button that must be depressed to turn the arm. Always use these safeguards when moving the saw arm and never attempt to move the arm while the saw blade is still turning.

Instructions

    • 1

Let the mitre arm saw blade come to a complete stop before attempting to release it. Pull out the lock pin on the turntable below the saw and raise the saw all the way up.

    • 2

Unscrew the mitre lock handle one-half turn counterclockwise to allow it to move and push down on the mitre lock plate with your thumb. Hold the lock plate down and move the mitre saw arm to the desired angle.

    • 3

Lift your thumb off the mitre lock plate and turn the mitre lock handle clockwise to lock the arm in place.
