How to Reinstall Bifold Doors

Bifold doors are made up of two panels that bend together in the middle. These doors are ideal to install over closets since they open wide, revealing the closet's entire contents. Bifold doors have two pivot pins on their top and bottom edges. They also have a guide pin on the upper edge. These pins are used to hold the bifold door in its track and guide it open and closed. If you removed the doors for some reason, putting them back on is a quick and easy project.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the top pivot pin in the pivot plate on the top track.

    • 2

Lift the bifold door so the top edge is against the track. Push the door's bottom edge until the bottom pivot pin is lined up with the jamb bracket mounted on the floor.

    • 3

Allow the door to lower to its natural height. Reach up to the bifold door's top edge and push down the guiding pin. Line it up underneath the guiding track and release it so it's inside the track.

    • 4

Repeat Steps 1 through 3 to mount the bifold door on the closet's opposite side. Close both doors and check that they are centered and straight in the door opening. Adjust the door's height by twisting the pivot pin on the door's bottom edge. Adjust the door's position within the opening by loosening the screw in the pivot plate, then sliding the plate back or forth to center the door. Tighten the screw.
