How to Fix Hunter Douglas Blinds That Are Tangled

Blinds tangles are a common occurrence when the cord tilts are not pulled together to raise or lower the blinds, and poses the risk of strangulation to pets or children if the blinds remain entangled. The key to fixing tangled Hunter Douglas blinds is through using the blind's cord stop to reduce tangles. The cord stop balances the pulling action of the inner and outer blind cords to reduce tangles, and is required to maintain the blinds and prevent possible damage.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the cords into the notches located at the top of the cord stop. Push together the cord stop pieces to lock the cords in place.

    • 2

Slowly twist the blind's wand to the right to open the blinds. Open blinds are in a flat, horizontal position when they are fully opened.

    • 3

Lift each blind slat from the inner and outer cord to untangle the blinds, and hold the bottom of the blinds to prevent the blinds from collapsing once released.

    • 4

Pull the cords on the right side of the blinds to the left to unlock them. Hold the bottom of the blinds and slowly lower them all the way to the bottom of the window.

    • 5

Grab the cords and slowly pull them straight down to lift the blinds back into place. Gently pull the cords to the right to lock the blinds in the current position.
