Instructions

    • 1

Remove the top piece that holds the fan, filter, electrical and light housing from the vent hood if that piece is not already separated in its packaging. Punch out one of the holes on the back of the vent hood with a screwdriver so that you can later use it to feed the wiring through from the wall. Cover up the wall facing duct hole on the hood with a piece of cardboard and duct tape leaving the upper duct hole open.

    • 2

Place the hood vent under the cabinet and mark where the knockout hole and duct hole will be on the wall and cabinet with a marker. Perform the same step for the top part of the cabinet and ceiling that will lead to the attic. Drill a starter hole or two in the corners of the knockout, duct, and the attic pathway outline you made. Repeat this step for any additional drywall that may need removal above the cabinetry.

    • 3

Place the reciprocating saw in each starter hole and completely cut out the outline or hole. Drill the hole for the electrical cable the same size of the knockout hole and feed the cable through. Drill a starter hole in the roof from the inside of the attic to the outside close to where the hood will be located. Cut another hole for the ducting using the drilled hole you put in the roof from in the attic.

    • 4

Go back into the kitchen. Put the cable clamp into the knockout hole on the hood. Insert the cable through the clamp. Attach the hood under the cabinet and secure the hood with the screws in the package.

    • 5

Go back to the roof to put roofing tar under the flashing flange and place the flange under the shingles and over the hole. Push the last of the ducting through the flashing flange and attach to the roof below. Seal all around the flashing and duct joints with the roofing tar.

Turn off the electrical power at the main circuit breaker or fuse box. Install the parts (fan, light, and filter) into the hood. Connect the wires by following the colors for example, black to black, white to white, and copper to ground screw. Cover the connections with wiring nuts. Put the electrical housing on the hood. Restore the power and test the hood vent.
