Before you begin, turn off the water supply to the faucet. This is typically done by turning the shutoff valves located under the sink. If there are no shutoff valves, you will need to turn off the main water supply to your home.
Step 2: Remove the Spout
Once the water supply is turned off, you can remove the spout. To do this, loosen the set screw located on the underside of the spout. Once the set screw is loose, you can pull the spout straight up to remove it.
Step 3: Inspect the Spout
Once the spout is removed, inspect it for damage. Common problems include cracks, chips, and leaks. If the spout is damaged, you will need to replace it.
Step 4: Clean the Spout
If the spout is not damaged, you can clean it by soaking it in a solution of vinegar and water. Scrub the spout with a soft cloth to remove any dirt or debris. Rinse the spout thoroughly with water and allow it to dry completely.
Step 5: Reinstall the Spout
Once the spout is clean and dry, you can reinstall it. To do this, insert the spout into the faucet body and tighten the set screw. Turn on the water supply and check for leaks.
Step 6: Test the Faucet
Once the spout is reinstalled, test the faucet to make sure it is working properly. Turn on the water and check for leaks. If there are no leaks, the faucet is repaired.
