Use a brush to clean the drain of any dirt or debris. Be sure to clean the threads of the drain where the drain stopper screws in.
Roll a small piece of plumber's putty into a snake shape. Place the plumber's putty around the threads of the drain stopper.
Screw the drain stopper into the drain by turning it clockwise until it is snug.
Turn on the water and fill the bathtub. Check to make sure that the drain stopper is working properly and that there are no leaks.
If the drain stopper is still not working properly, you may need to replace it. You can find replacement drain stoppers at most hardware stores.
Here are some additional tips for fixing a bathtub drain stopper:
- If the drain stopper is made of metal, you may need to use a penetrating lubricant to loosen it.
- If the drain stopper is made of plastic, be careful not to over-tighten it, as this could damage the drain.
- If you are unable to fix the drain stopper yourself, you may need to call a plumber.
