Instructions:
* Center shower head: Place the shower head in the middle of the shower. Hold it over the center of the shower pan.
* Mark the drain location: Use the pencil to mark the location of the new drain on the shower pan. Make sure the mark is centered.
* Level: Level the shower pan to make sure the new drain will drain properly. Adjust the shower pan if necessary.
* Cut: Cut the old drain pipe with the utility knife. Cut the pipe close to the shower pan. Clean the drain hole and remove all debris.
* Apply the putty: Apply the putty to the flange of the new drain. Place the drain flange over the drain hole and press down firmly. Make sure the putty is evenly distributed around the flange.
* Attach the drain pipe: Attach the 2-inch PVC drain pipe to the drain flange. Use the adjustable wrench to tighten the connection.
* Install an elbow: Install a 2-inch PVC elbow to the drain pipe. Point the elbow toward the center of the shower.
* Add a coupler: Add a 2-inch PVC coupler to the elbow. Cut a piece of 2-inch PVC drain pipe to the length needed to reach the center of the shower. Join the center drain to the coupler and place the drain cover over the opening.
* Insert the end cap: Insert the 2-inch PVC end cap into the open end of the drain pipe. Use the solvent cement to glue the end cap in place.
* Test the drain: Turn on the water and test the drain. Make sure the drain drains properly and there are no leaks.
Tips:
- When cutting the PVC pipe, make sure to use a sharp utility knife. A dull knife can damage the pipe.
- Be sure to apply the plumber's putty evenly around the drain flange. This will help to prevent leaks.
- Tighten the connections between the PVC pipes and fittings securely. This will also help to prevent leaks.
- Test the drain thoroughly before using the shower. This will help to ensure that the drain is installed correctly and that there are no leaks.
