How to Reuse Paint Rollers

Paint rollers are cheap, but on a large project, using a new one for each coat can add up. Reusing paint rollers can save you money and is good for the environment. To keep rollers clean and reusable, clean them immediately after use. Here's how to do it.

  • Bucket
  • Putty knife or paint stirrer
  • Hose
  • Paint roller

Instructions

      Rest the paint roller on the edge of the latex paint can.

      Scrape excess paint off the roller into the can using a putty knife or paint stirrer.

      Turn the roller after each scrape until you've removed paint from the entire circumference of the roller.

      Place the roller in an empty bucket with the roller handle still attached.

      Rinse the roller with a hose, collecting the rinse water in the bucket, to remove any remaining paint while holding the roller handle.

      Place the roller in a well-ventilated place to air dry.
