How to Get to the Battery in a Honeywell Thermostat

Some models of Honeywell thermostat do not have a connection to your home's electrical supply and use a pair of AA batteries instead. You might want to access the batteries when the battery status icon on the display of the thermostat indicates that very little power remains. Because battery changes are so common, Honeywell makes it easy to access the appropriate compartment without the need for tools.

     Slide the "Heat/Cool" switch to the position marked "Off." The thermostat will power down.

     Find the small plastic button at the top of the thermostat. It is often located in the middle or to one side.

     Press the button down and pull the cover forward or the side to reveal the batteries.
