How to Install GE RR7 Low Voltage

The GE WSD-RR7 is a low voltage wall switch that automatically recognizes motion in the room and turns on a light fixture for the occupants in the room. This switch is good for smaller rooms such as closets, offices and small spaces without obstructions that could block the infrared eye located on the face of the switch. The optical switch fits into a standard gang box and replaces an existing electrical switch already mounted into the wall.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the breaker for the room to cut power.

    • 2

Unscrew the screw that holds the light switch cover plate onto the light switch. Unscrew the screws that secure the light switch to the gang box and then pull the switch out of the box. Disconnect the wires coming from the breaker and the wires coming from the light switch, then discard the old light switch.

    • 3

Connect the blue wire to the “common” terminal located on the GE RR7 transformer.

    • 4

Connect the black, red and green wires coming from the optical switch to the second terminal on the transformer. This is the diode transformer.

    • 5

Connect the black wire extending from the breaker to the hot terminal on the left side of the switch, then connect the white wire to the neutral terminal on the left side of the switch.

    • 6

Connect the black wire from the light fixture to the “H” terminal on the diode, which connects to the transformer, then connect the white wire from the light fixture to the “N” lug on the diode.

    • 7

Slide the optical light into the gang box and secure it with the screws supplied with the light. Place the cover over the light and secure it with the screw supplied with the cover.
