Step 1: Turn off the water supply.
Before you start any work on your faucet, you'll need to turn off the water supply. There is usually a shutoff valve located under the sink. Turn the valve clockwise until the water is completely off.
Step 2: Remove the faucet handle.
The next step is to remove the faucet handle. There are two common ways to do this:
* For faucets with a set screw: Locate the set screw on the side or back of the faucet handle. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw and remove it. Then, pull the handle straight up to remove it.
* For faucets with a cartridge: Pull the faucet handle straight up to remove it.
Step 3: Remove the cartridge.
If your faucet has a cartridge, you will need to remove it in order to repair it. To do this, use a wrench to loosen the retaining nut that holds the cartridge in place. Then, remove the cartridge by pulling it straight up.
Step 4: Inspect the cartridge.
Once you have removed the cartridge, inspect it for damage. If the cartridge is cracked or broken, you will need to replace it. You can purchase a replacement cartridge at your local hardware store.
Step 5: Reinstall the cartridge.
If the cartridge is not damaged, you can reinstall it by following these steps:
1. Insert the cartridge into the faucet body.
2. Replace the retaining nut and tighten it until it is snug.
3. Reinstall the faucet handle.
Step 6: Turn on the water supply.
Once you have reinstalled the faucet handle, you can turn on the water supply. Check for leaks, and if there are any, tighten the connections until they stop.
