How to Keep Tulip Bulbs for Next Year

The tulip is a spring flowering bulb, with more than 4,000 varieties. Fall is the time to plant tulip bulbs. If all of them don't make it into the ground in the fall before snow falls, it is possible to store them for the next year's planting. Never store tulip bulbs with fruit such as apples, as the ethylene gas produced by the fruit will destroy the bulbs. Don't divide or separate the bulbs before storing.
