- Glass vase
- Hydroponic growing medium (such as Leca pebbles, lava rocks, or coconut coir)
- Distilled or filtered water
- Succulent plants
- Scissors or pruning shears
1. Choose a glass vase. The vase should be large enough to accommodate the roots of your succulent plants, but not so large that the roots have too much room to spread out.
2. Add the hydroponic growing medium to the vase. Fill the vase about 1/3 full with the growing medium.
3. Water the growing medium. Add enough water to the vase so that the growing medium is moist but not soggy.
4. Choose succulent plants. Succulents are plants that are adapted to dry conditions, making them ideal for hydroponic gardening. Some good choices for hydroponic succulents include echeveria, sedum, and sempervivum.
5. Remove any dead or damaged roots from the succulent plants.
6. Plant the succulent plants in the vase. Gently place the succulent plants in the vase, spacing them evenly apart.
7. Water the plants. Add enough water to the vase so that the water level is about 1 inch below the bottom of the plants.
8. Place the vase in a sunny location. Succulents need plenty of sunlight to thrive.
9. Fertilize the plants every few months. Use a water-soluble fertilizer that is specifically formulated for hydroponic plants.
- If the water level in the vase gets too low, add more distilled or filtered water.
- If the water in the vase becomes cloudy, it may be time to change the water.
- Succulents are susceptible to root rot, so it is important to make sure that the roots are not sitting in water.
- If you live in a humid climate, you may want to mist your succulents occasionally.
