Instructions

    • 1

Select an attractive vase, bottle or large jar. Choose one that is about 12 to 18 inches tall. This project works well with colored glass in blue, green and amber.

    • 2

Drill a 3/4 inch diameter hole in the bottom, side of the jar. Use a special drill bit made for use with glass.

    • 3

Take a string of 20 to 50 lights. Carefully feed the lights through the hole into the glass container, one or two at a time. Continue until you have the entire string of lights inside the container. Choose lights that coordinate well with the color of your glass container.

    • 4

Plug the lights into the wall to see how they look. The lights must fill the jar from bottom to top and show light throughout the area. If they don't, you need more lights.

    • 5

Add potpourri in your favorite scent. Shake the jar to work the potpourri throughout the container and around the lights. The small amount of heat from the lights turns your lighted container into an air freshener.

    • 6

Cover wide-mouthed containers with a paper doily and a rubber band or ribbon so it can breathe easily. Bottles don't have to be covered.
