- Drill
- Masonry bit
- 3/8-inch carriage bolts
- Washers
- Nuts
- Level
- Pencil
Instructions
Step 1: Mark the Mounting Locations
Place the flag pole bracket around the round column at the desired height. Use a level to ensure that the bracket is level. Mark the four mounting holes with a pencil.
Step 2: Drill the Holes
Use a drill fitted with a masonry bit to drill four holes at the marked locations. The holes should be about 3/8 inches deep.
Step 3: Insert the Carriage Bolts
Insert a carriage bolt into each hole. Place a washer over each bolt on the outside of the column.
Step 4: Tighten the Nuts
On the inside of the column ,thread one nut onto two of the bolts followed by a second nuts, tightening them against on another in order to form a double nut that prevents the bolt from loosening over time. Tighten the other two bolts using only one nut each (no doublenuts required for these two). Do not over tighten the nuts as this could damage the column.
Step 5: Attach the Flag Pole Bracket
Position the flag pole bracket over the carriage bolts so the holes in the bracket align with the carriage bolts. Slide a washer over each carriage bolt then secure the bracket in place by threading a nut, one per bolt onto each until snug (do not over-tighten).
Your flag pole bracket is now mounted on the round column!
