How to Make a Decorative Zippered Throw Pillow Cover

### Here's how to create your own decorative and personalized zippered throw pillow cover:

#### Things You'll Need:

- Fabric of your choice (we're using a 16" x 16" piece)

- Matching thread

- Fabric scissors or rotary cutter and cutting mat

- Sewing machine (optional)

- Needle and thimble

- Zipper (at least 14" long)

- Pins or fabric clips

- Iron and pressing cloth

- Measuring tape or ruler

#### Instructions:

1. Prepare the fabric: Measure and cut your fabric to desired size. Iron your fabric pieces to smooth out wrinkles.

2. Hem the edges: Fold the fabric edges in 1/2 inch around the perimeter, press, and pin or clip in place. Machine stitch or hand-sew the hems in place.

3. Attach the zipper: Pin or clip the zipper face down along one of the open edges of the pillow cover, centering as much as possible. Make sure the zipper teeth are facing up.

4. Sew the zipper: Using a zipper foot on your sewing machine, sew close to the zipper coils. Stitch one side at a time, and backstitch at the beginning and end of each seam. Trim excess fabric close to the stitching line.

5. Turn the cover inside out: Carefully turn the pillow cover right side out, pushing out the corners and edges with a point turner or other blunt object.

6. Topstitch the zipper: Fold the raw edges of the zipper allowance inwards and press. Top stitch around the perimeter, close to the zipper, to secure the zipper and give it a finished look.

7. Finish and customize: Iron your completed zippered pillow cover, insert a pillow form or cushion of the appropriate size, and enjoy! You can add trims or embellishments to personalize your pillow further.

Tips:

- Choose a fabric that complements the texture and style of your pillows and home decor.

- Use a non-slip zipper to ensure the pillow cover doesn't move too much.

- When inserting the pillow form, open the zipper about halfway and then gently push the corners of the pillow form inwards as you insert it. This should prevent the seam from popping.

- If desired, you can add a hidden flap behind the zipper to keep it from opening too wide and help maintain its shape.
