Measure the area of wall to become the blackboard. Use a painter's level to ensure each side is straight. Alternatively, trace around a picture frame for the shape and size of the blackboard. Mark the measurements lightly with a pencil.
Section off the blackboard area with painter's tape to ensure clean lines with no blackboard paint mistakenly placed on other areas outside the blackboard.
Pour blackboard paint into the paint pan. Load the paint roller with the blackboard paint. Coat the sectioned-off blackboard area with the paint.
Let the blackboard paint dry. Add a second coat of paint, if necessary.
Remove the painter's tape after the blackboard paint has thoroughly dried. Hang a picture frame around the blackboard area, if desired, for a decorative touch.
Measure and tape off an area of wall for your blackboard.
Mix 3/4 cup acrylic paint in a color of your choosing with 2 tablespoons of non-sanded grout in a bowl.
Use a paintbrush to coat the blackboard area with your homemade blackboard paint. Let the paint dry and add another coat, if needed.
Remove the painter's tape once the paint is dry. Paint an embellished border to frame the blackboard with acrylic paint.
