How to Connect a Dimmer Light Switch GFI Outlet

## How to Connect a Dimmer Light Switch GFI Outlet

A dimmer light switch GFI outlet is a combination of a dimmer switch and a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) outlet. It allows you to control the light level of your light fixtures and also provides protection against electrical shocks.

Here's how to connect a dimmer light switch GFCI outlet:

1. Turn off the power. This is the most important step, as it will help prevent you from getting shocked. Flip the circuit breaker that controls the outlet and light switch to the "Off" position and make sure it stays in that position until you are finished working.

2. Remove the old outlet and switch. Unscrew the screws that hold the outlet and switch in place, and carefully remove them from the wall. Be careful not to touch any of the wires.

3. Identify the wires. The outlet will have three wires: black (hot), white (neutral), and green or bare (ground). The switch will have two wires: black (hot) and white (neutral).

4. Connect the wires. Connect the black wire from the outlet to the black wire from the switch. Connect the white wire from the outlet to the white wire from the switch. Connect the green or bare wire from the outlet to the green or bare wire from the switch.

5. Secure the connections. Use wire nuts to secure the connections. Make sure the wire nuts are tight so that the connections do not come loose.

6. Mount the outlet and switch. Place the outlet and switch in the wall and screw them in place.

7. Turn on the power. Flip the circuit breaker back to the "On" position. The outlet and switch should now be working properly.

Here are some tips for connecting a dimmer light switch GFCI outlet:

- Make sure that the circuit breaker is turned off before you start working.

- Be careful not to touch any of the wires.

- Use wire nuts to secure the connections.

- Make sure the outlet and switch are properly mounted before turning on the power.

- If you are not comfortable working with electrical wiring, it is best to hire a qualified electrician to do the work for you.
