How to Make a Floating Chandelier

With just a few inexpensive supplies found at craft supply and hardware stores, you can make an attractive floating chandelier that will add mood lighting to any room in the house. This chandelier would look spectacular floating over a master bathroom Jacuzzi tub and would add atmosphere to a powder room. By gluing on sprigs of artificial greenery and some red velvet bows, the floating chandelier would bring holiday cheer to a festive buffet table.

Things You'll Need

  • 14-inch wooden wreath ring
  • Rotary drill
  • Nylon fishing wire
  • Tape measure
  • Scissors
  • 4 buttons
  • 8 shower curtain rings
  • Hot glue gun
  • 8 2-inch diameter, 4-inch high pillar candles
  • 8 silk floral or greenery sprigs
  • 2 cup hooks

Instructions

      Drill four evenly spaced small holes through the flat center of the wooden wreath ring with the rotary drill.

      Cut four 36 inch long pieces of nylon fishing wire with the scissors. Thread the ends of the wire through the buttons and tie secure double knots to attach the wire to the buttons. Thread the opposite ends of the wire through the holes in the wreath ring.

      Attach the curtain rods to the top flat edge of the wreath ring with the hot glue gun, evenly spaced. Attach the candles to the wreath ring inside the curtain rings with the hot glue gun. Attach the floral sprigs to the wreath ring between the candles with the hot glue gun.

      Screw the cup hooks in the ceiling, spaced 12 inches apart. Tie two free ends of the fishing wire in a secure knot. Repeat, tying together the remaining wire ends. Hook the knots over the cup hooks.
