Walk-in showers are becoming a standard addition to bathrooms in newer homes. Doorless walk-in showers allow the owner the ease of simply walking into the shower without having to open a door or pull aside a curtain. To avoid the mess of water going everywhere, build a shallow lip right at the doorway of the shower to keep water out of the rest of the bathroom. The nature of doorless walk-in showers makes them open at all times. If you require more privacy, build a half wall in the front of the shower, keeping a doorway opening for entry.

1
Step over the lip of the shower to enter the doorway. If you decide you don't want a lip, as it can present a trip hazard, use flooring in the rest of the bathroom that can handle getting wet daily.

2
Wear shower shoes or flip flops in the bathroom after your shower if you have a doorless shower with no lip. Flooring is most often tile, which can become slippery and dangerous.

Hang a shower curtain with a tension rod across the open doorway and the half wall if you must make the shower more private. Tie the shower curtain back with ribbon tied to hooked suction cups. Keep the curtain up but pulled back until you need it.
