How to Make a Silk Flower Centerpiece

A silk flower centerpiece can be made with little effort; just purchase the silk flowers (and greenery) you wish to use to spice up the table, and follow a few simple steps. Creating a silk flower centerpiece follows the same process as creating a real flower centerpiece. The only significant difference is, the silk flowers will last a whole lot longer than the real ones. Some people add water to the silk flower container to create an appearance of reality, but water isn't necessary to keep your silk flower centerpiece looking magnificent for many years to come.

  Purchase a container for your silk flower centerpiece at any home and garden store. A solid white ceramic vase is ideal for hiding the stems of the silk flowers.

  Place a piece of floral foam, purchased at any craft store, in the bottom of the vase. Use a pair of scissors to trim the foam to size. The foam must fit snug in the vase in order to hold the silk flowers in place.

  Gather a group of silk flowers together purchased from a craft store. An ideal silk floral blend is: soft blue hydrangeas, amethyst anemones, purple verbena and lavender lilacs. Add a few different types of silk greenery such as eucalyptus and fern.

  Begin by placing the stems of the silk greenery down into the floral foam. Space the greenery apart leaving room for the floral stems. Don't clump each type together, spread them out.

  Insert the silk flowers between the greenery stems. Place the taller flowers in the center of the vase, and the shorter flowers around the perimeter. Allow the drooping stems to fall over the sides of the vase. Once the stems are placed, rearrange them according to your liking.
